1 Carga del desierto del mar. Como los torbellinos que pasan por el desierto en la región del Mediodía, así vienen de la tierra horrenda.

A prophecy against the Desert by the Sea: Like whirlwinds sweeping through the southland, an invader comes from the desert, from a land of terror.
2 Visión dura me ha sido mostrada. Para <I>un</I> prevaricador <I>otro</I> prevaricador; y para <I>un</I> destructor <I>otro</I> destructor. Sube, Elam; cerca, Media. Todo su gemido hice cesar.

A dire vision has been shown to me: The traitor betrays, the looter takes loot. Elam, attack! Media, lay siege! I will bring to an end all the groaning she caused.
3 Por tanto, mis lomos se han llenado de dolor; angustias se apoderaron de mí, como angustias de mujer de parto; me agobié oyendo, y me espanté viendo.

At this my body is racked with pain, pangs seize me, like those of a woman in labor; I am staggered by what I hear, I am bewildered by what I see.
4 Se pasmó mi corazón, el horror me ha asombrado; la noche de mi deseo se me tornó en espanto.

My heart falters, fear makes me tremble; the twilight I longed for has become a horror to me.
5 Pon la mesa, mira del atalaya, come, bebe, levantaos, príncipes, tomad escudo.

They set the tables, they spread the rugs, they eat, they drink! Get up, you officers, oil the shields!
6 Porque el Señor me dijo así: Ve, pon centinela, que haga saber lo que viere.

This is what the Lord says to me: “Go, post a lookout and have him report what he sees.
7 Y vio un carro de un par de caballeros, un carro de asno, y un carro de camello. Luego miró mucho más atentamente.

When he sees chariots with teams of horses, riders on donkeys or riders on camels, let him be alert, fully alert.”
8 Y gritó: León sobre atalaya. Señor, estoy yo continuamente <I>todo</I> el dia, y las noches enteras sobre mi guarda.

And the lookout shouted, “Day after day, my lord, I stand on the watchtower; every night I stay at my post.
9 Y he aquí este carro de hombres viene, un par de caballeros. Después habló, y dijo: Cayó; cayó Babilonia; y todos los ídolos de sus dioses quebrantó en tierra.

Look, here comes a man in a chariot with a team of horses. And he gives back the answer: ‘Babylon has fallen, has fallen! All the images of its gods lie shattered on the ground!’ ”
10 Trilla mía, y pueblo de mi era, os he dicho lo que oí del SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel.

My people who are crushed on the threshing floor, I tell you what I have heard from the LORD Almighty, from the God of Israel.
11 Carga de Duma. Me dan voces: De Seir. ¿Guarda qué <I>hay</I> esta noche? ¿Guarda, qué <I>hay</I> esta noche?

A prophecy against Dumah : Someone calls to me from Seir, “Watchman, what is left of the night? Watchman, what is left of the night?”
12 El que guarda respondió: La mañana viene, y después la noche. Si preguntareis, preguntad; volved, y venid.

The watchman replies, “Morning is coming, but also the night. If you would ask, then ask; and come back yet again.”
13 Carga sobre Arabia. En el monte tendréis la noche en Arabia, oh caminantes de Dedán.

A prophecy against Arabia: You caravans of Dedanites, who camp in the thickets of Arabia,
14 Salid al encuentro llevando aguas al sediento, oh moradores de tierra de Tema, socorred con su pan al que huye.

bring water for the thirsty; you who live in Tema, bring food for the fugitives.
15 Porque de la presencia de las espadas huyen, de la presencia de la espada desnuda, de la presencia del arco entesado, de la presencia del peso de la batalla.

They flee from the sword, from the drawn sword, from the bent bow and from the heat of battle.
16 Porque así me ha dicho el SEÑOR: De aquí a un año, semejante a años de jornalero, toda la gloria de Cedar será deshecha;

This is what the Lord says to me: “Within one year, as a servant bound by contract would count it, all the splendor of Kedar will come to an end.
17 y el resto del número de los valientes flecheros, hijos de Cedar, serán apocados; porque el SEÑOR Dios de Israel lo ha dicho.

The survivors of the archers, the warriors of Kedar, will be few.” The LORD, the God of Israel, has spoken.
