Jeremiah 15:10-21

ESV 10 Woe is me, my mother, that you bore me, a man of strife and contention to the whole land! I have not lent, nor have I borrowed, yet all of them curse me. NIV 10 Alas, my mother, that you gave me birth, a man with whom the whole land strives and contends! I have neither lent nor borrowed, yet everyone curses me. ESV 11 The LORD said, "Have I not set you free for their good? Have I not pleaded for you before the enemy in the time of trouble and in the time of distress? NIV 11 The LORD said, “Surely I will deliver you for a good purpose; surely I will make your enemies plead with you in times of disaster and times of distress. ESV 12 Can one break iron, iron from the north, and bronze? NIV 12 “Can a man break iron— iron from the north—or bronze? ESV 13 "Your wealth and your treasures I will give as spoil, without price, for all your sins, throughout all your territory. NIV 13 “Your wealth and your treasures I will give as plunder, without charge, because of all your sins throughout your country. ESV 14 I will make you serve your enemies in a land that you do not know, for in my anger a fire is kindled that shall burn forever." NIV 14 I will enslave you to your enemies in a land you do not know, for my anger will kindle a fire that will burn against you.” ESV 15 O LORD, you know; remember me and visit me, and take vengeance for me on my persecutors. In your forbearance take me not away; know that for your sake I bear reproach. NIV 15 LORD, you understand; remember me and care for me. Avenge me on my persecutors. You are long-suffering—do not take me away; think of how I suffer reproach for your sake. ESV 16 Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O LORD, God of hosts. NIV 16 When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, LORD God Almighty. ESV 17 I did not sit in the company of revelers, nor did I rejoice; I sat alone, because your hand was upon me, for you had filled me with indignation. NIV 17 I never sat in the company of revelers, never made merry with them; I sat alone because your hand was on me and you had filled me with indignation. ESV 18 Why is my pain unceasing, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Will you be to me like a deceitful brook, like waters that fail? NIV 18 Why is my pain unending and my wound grievous and incurable? You are to me like a deceptive brook, like a spring that fails. ESV 19 Therefore thus says the LORD: "If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them. NIV 19 Therefore this is what the LORD says: “If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me; if you utter worthy, not worthless, words, you will be my spokesman. Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them. ESV 20 And I will make you to this people a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you, but they shall not prevail over you, for I am with you to save you and deliver you, declares the LORD. NIV 20 I will make you a wall to this people, a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you to rescue and save you,” declares the LORD. ESV 21 I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless." NIV 21 “I will save you from the hands of the wicked and deliver you from the grasp of the cruel.”
