John 16:4-15

RSVA 4 But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes you may remember that I told you of them. "I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you. NIV 4 I have told you this, so that when their time comes you will remember that I warned you about them. I did not tell you this from the beginning because I was with you, RSVA 5 But now I am going to him who sent me; yet none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' NIV 5 but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ RSVA 6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your hearts. NIV 6 Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things. RSVA 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. NIV 7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. RSVA 8 And when he comes, he will convince the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: NIV 8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: RSVA 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; NIV 9 about sin, because people do not believe in me; RSVA 10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more; NIV 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; RSVA 11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. NIV 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. RSVA 12 "I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. NIV 12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. RSVA 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. NIV 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. RSVA 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. NIV 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. RSVA 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. NIV 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
