1 Y aconteció <I>después</I> de <I>algunos</I> días, que en el tiempo de la siega del trigo, Sansón visitó a su mujer con un cabrito, diciendo: Entraré a mi mujer a la cámara. Mas el padre de ella no lo dejó entrar.

Later on, at the time of wheat harvest, Samson took a young goat and went to visit his wife. He said, “I’m going to my wife’s room.” But her father would not let him go in.
2 Y dijo el padre de ella: Me persuadí que <I>tú</I> la aborrecías, y la di a tu compañero. Mas su hermana menor, ¿no es más hermosa que ella? Tómala, pues, en su lugar.

“I was so sure you hated her,” he said, “that I gave her to your companion. Isn’t her younger sister more attractive? Take her instead.”
3 Y Sansón les respondió: <I>Yo</I> seré sin culpa esta vez para con los filisteos, si mal les hiciere.

Samson said to them, “This time I have a right to get even with the Philistines; I will really harm them.”
4 Y fue Sansón y cogió trescientas zorras, y tomando teas, y trabando aquéllas por la cola, puso entre cada dos colas una tea.

So he went out and caught three hundred foxes and tied them tail to tail in pairs. He then fastened a torch to every pair of tails,
5 <I>Después</I> , encendiendo las teas, echó las <I>zorras</I> en los sembrados de los filisteos, y quemó las mieses amontonadas y en pie, viñas y olivares.

lit the torches and let the foxes loose in the standing grain of the Philistines. He burned up the shocks and standing grain, together with the vineyards and olive groves.
6 Y dijeron los filisteos: ¿Quién hizo esto? Y les fue dicho: Sansón, el yerno del timnateo, porque le quitó su mujer y la dio a su compañero. Y vinieron los filisteos, y quemaron a fuego a ella y a su padre.

When the Philistines asked, “Who did this?” they were told, “Samson, the Timnite’s son-in-law, because his wife was given to his companion.” So the Philistines went up and burned her and her father to death.
7 Entonces Sansón les dijo: ¿Así lo habíais de hacer? Mas <I>yo</I> me vengaré de vosotros, y después cesaré.

Samson said to them, “Since you’ve acted like this, I swear that I won’t stop until I get my revenge on you.”
8 Y los hirió pierna y muslo con gran mortandad; y descendió, y asentó en la cueva de la peña de Etam.

He attacked them viciously and slaughtered many of them. Then he went down and stayed in a cave in the rock of Etam.
9 Y los filisteos subieron y pusieron campamento en Judá, y se tendieron por Lehi.

The Philistines went up and camped in Judah, spreading out near Lehi.
10 Y los varones de Judá les dijeron: ¿Por qué habéis subido contra nosotros? Y ellos respondieron: A prender a Sansón hemos subido, para hacerle como él nos ha hecho.

The people of Judah asked, “Why have you come to fight us?” “We have come to take Samson prisoner,” they answered, “to do to him as he did to us.”
11 Y vinieron tres mil hombres de Judá a la cueva de la peña de Etam, y dijeron a Sansón: ¿No sabes <I>tú</I> que los filisteos dominan sobre nosotros? ¿Por qué nos has hecho esto? Y él les respondió: <I>Yo</I> les he hecho como ellos me hicieron.

Then three thousand men from Judah went down to the cave in the rock of Etam and said to Samson, “Don’t you realize that the Philistines are rulers over us? What have you done to us?” He answered, “I merely did to them what they did to me.”
12 <I>Ellos</I> entonces le dijeron: Nosotros hemos venido para prenderte, y entregarte en mano de los filisteos. Y Sansón les respondió: Juradme que vosotros no me mataréis.

They said to him, “We’ve come to tie you up and hand you over to the Philistines.” Samson said, “Swear to me that you won’t kill me yourselves.”
13 Y <I>ellos</I> le respondieron, diciendo: No; solamente te prenderemos, y te entregaremos en sus manos; mas no te mataremos. Entonces le ataron con dos cuerdas nuevas, y le hicieron venir de la peña.

“Agreed,” they answered. “We will only tie you up and hand you over to them. We will not kill you.” So they bound him with two new ropes and led him up from the rock.
14 Y cuando vino hasta Lehi, los filisteos le salieron a recibir con alarido; y el espíritu del SEÑOR cayó sobre él, y las cuerdas que <I>estaban</I> en sus brazos se volvieron como lino quemado con fuego, y las ataduras se cayeron de sus manos.

As he approached Lehi, the Philistines came toward him shouting. The Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon him. The ropes on his arms became like charred flax, and the bindings dropped from his hands.
15 Y hallando <I>a mano</I> una quijada de asno aún fresca, extendió la mano y la tomó, e hirió con ella <I>a</I> mil hombres.

Finding a fresh jawbone of a donkey, he grabbed it and struck down a thousand men.
16 Entonces Sansón dijo: Con <I>la</I> quijada de <I>un</I> asno, un montón, dos montones; con <I>la</I> quijada de un asno herí mil varones.

Then Samson said, “With a donkey’s jawbone I have made donkeys of them.With a donkey’s jawbone I have killed a thousand men.”
17 Y acabando de hablar, echó de su mano la quijada, y llamó a aquel lugar Ramat-lehi (<I>echamiento de la quijada</I> ).

When he finished speaking, he threw away the jawbone; and the place was called Ramath Lehi.
18 Y teniendo <I>gran</I> sed, clamó luego al SEÑOR, y dijo: Tú has dado esta gran salud por mano de tu siervo; ¿y moriré <I>yo</I> ahora de sed, y caeré en mano de los incircuncisos?

Because he was very thirsty, he cried out to the LORD, “You have given your servant this great victory. Must I now die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?”
19 Entonces quebró Dios una muela que <I>estaba</I> en la quijada, y salieron de allí aguas, y bebió, y recobró su espíritu, y vivió. Por tanto llamó su nombre <I>de aquel lugar</I> , En-hacore (<I>fuente del que llama</I> ), el cual <I>está</I> en Lehi, hasta hoy.

Then God opened up the hollow place in Lehi, and water came out of it. When Samson drank, his strength returned and he revived. So the spring was called En Hakkore, and it is still there in Lehi.
20 Y juzgó a Israel en <I>los</I> días de los filisteos veinte años.

Samson led Israel for twenty years in the days of the Philistines.
