Mark 15:26-47

CSB 26 The inscription of the charge written against Him was THE KING OF THE JEWS NIV 26 The written notice of the charge against him read: THE KING OF THE JEWS. CSB 27 They crucified two criminals with Him, one on His right and one on His left. [ NIV 27 They crucified two rebels with him, one on his right and one on his left. CSB 28 So the Scripture was fulfilled that says: And He was counted among outlaws. ] CSB 29 Those who passed by were yelling insults at Him, shaking their heads, and saying, "Ha! The One who would demolish the sanctuary and build it in three days, NIV 29 Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, “So! You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, CSB 30 save Yourself by coming down from the cross!" NIV 30 come down from the cross and save yourself !” CSB 31 In the same way, the chief priests with the scribes were mocking Him to one another and saying, "He saved others; He cannot save Himself! NIV 31 In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves. “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! CSB 32 Let the Messiah, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe." Even those who were crucified with Him were taunting Him. NIV 32 Let this Messiah, this king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe.” Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him. CSB 33 When it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. NIV 33 At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. CSB 34 And at three Jesus cried out with a loud voice, " Eloi, Eloi, lemá sabachtháni ?" which is translated, " My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? " NIV 34 And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”). CSB 35 When some of those standing there heard this, they said, "Look, He's calling for Elijah!" NIV 35 When some of those standing near heard this, they said, “Listen, he’s calling Elijah.” CSB 36 Someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, fixed it on a reed, offered Him a drink, and said, "Let's see if Elijah comes to take Him down!" NIV 36 Someone ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down,” he said. CSB 37 But Jesus let out a loud cry and breathed His last. NIV 37 With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. CSB 38 Then the curtain of the sanctuary was split in two from top to bottom. NIV 38 The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. CSB 39 When the centurion, who was standing opposite Him, saw the way He breathed His last, he said, "This man really was God's Son!" NIV 39 And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died, he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!” CSB 40 There were also women looking on from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome. NIV 40 Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joseph, and Salome. CSB 41 When He was in Galilee, they would follow Him and help Him. Then he placed Him in a tomb cut out of the rock, and rolled a stone against the entrance to the tomb. NIV 46 So Joseph bought some linen cloth, took down the body, wrapped it in the linen, and placed it in a tomb cut out of rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. CSB 47 Now Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses were watching where He was placed. NIV 47 Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph saw where he was laid.
