1 Wǒ ér , nǐ ruò lǐngshòu wǒde yányǔ , cún jì wǒ dé mìnglìng ,

My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,
2 Zhāi ĕr tīng zhìhuì , zhuān xīn qiú cōngming .

turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—
3 Hū qiú míng zhé , yáng shēng qiú cōngming ,

indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
4 Xúnzhǎo tā rú xúnzhǎo yínzi , sōu qiú tā rú sōu qiú yǐncáng de zhēn bǎo ,

and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 Nǐ jiù míngbai jìngwèi Yēhéhuá , déyǐ rènshi shén .

then you will understand the fear of the LORDand find the knowledge of God.
6 Yīnwei Yēhéhuá cì rén zhìhuì . zhīshi hé cōngming , dōu yóu tā kǒu ér chū .

For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 Tā gĕi zhèngzhí rén cún liú zhēn zhìhuì , gĕi xíngwéi chún zhèng de rén zuò dùnpái .

He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
8 Wéi yào bǎoshǒu gōngping rén de lù , hù bì qiánjìng rén de dào .

for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.
9 Nǐ yĕ bì míngbai rényì , gōngping , zhèngzhí , yīqiè de shàn dào .

Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.
10 Zhìhuì bì rù nǐ xīn . nǐde líng yào yǐ zhīshi wèi mĕi .

For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
11 Móu lüè bì hùwèi nǐ . cōngming bì bǎoshǒu nǐ .

Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.
12 Yào jiù nǐ tuōlí è dào , ( è dào huò zuò è rén de dào ) tuōlí shuō guāi miù huà de rén .

Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,
13 Nà dĕng rén shĕ qì zhèngzhí de lù , xíng zǒu hēiàn de dào ,

who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways,
14 Xǐhuan zuò è , xǐaì è rén de guāi pì .

who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
15 Zaì tāmende dào zhōng wānqū , zaì tāmende lù shang piān pì .

whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.
16 Zhìhuì yào jiù nǐ tuō lí yín fù , jiù shì nà yóu zuǐhuá shé de waì nǚ .

Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words,
17 Tā lí qì yòunián de peìǒu , wáng le shén de míng yuē .

who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God.
18 Tāde jiā xiàn rù sǐdì , tāde lù piān xiàng yīnjiān .

Surely her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
19 Fán dào Tānàli qù de bùdé zhuǎn huí , yĕ dé bù zhe shēngmìng de lù .

None who go to her return or attain the paths of life.
20 Zhìhuì bì shǐ nǐ xíng shàn rén de dào , shǒu yì rén de lù .

Thus you will walk in the ways of the good and keep to the paths of the righteous.
21 Zhèngzhí rén bì zaì shìshang jūzhù . wánquán rén bì zaì dì shang cún liú .

For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it;
22 Wéiyǒu è rén bìrán jiǎnchú . jiān zhà de bìrán bá chū .

but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.
