1 <em>Aleph</em> Halelu-JAH. Blessed <em>is</em> the man <em>that</em> fears the LORD, <em>Beth that</em> delights greatly in his commandments.
1 Praise the LORD. Blessed are those who fear the LORD, who find great delight in his commands.
2 <em>Gimel</em> His seed shall be mighty upon earth; <em>Daleth</em> the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
2 Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 <em>He</em> Wealth and riches <em>shall be</em> in his house; <em>Vau</em> and his righteousness endures for ever.
3 Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever.
4 <em>Zain</em> A light has shined in the darkness upon the upright: <em>Cheth</em> Gracious and merciful and righteous.
4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
5 <em>Teth</em> A good man has mercy and lends; <em>Jod</em> He will govern his affairs with <em>good</em> judgment.
5 Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.
6 <em>Caph</em> Surely he shall not be moved for ever; <em>Lamed</em> the righteous shall be in eternal remembrance.
6 Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever.
7 <em>Mem</em> He shall not be afraid of evil rumours; <em>Nun</em> his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.
7 They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
8 <em>Samech</em> His heart <em>is</em> established; he shall not be afraid, <em>Ain</em> until he sees <em>his desire</em> upon his enemies.
8 Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
9 <em>Pe</em> He has dispersed; he has given to the poor; <em>Tzaddi</em> his righteousness endures for ever; <em>Koph</em> his horn shall be exalted in glory.
9 They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor, their righteousness endures forever; their horn will be lifted high in honor.
10 <em>Resh</em> The wicked shall see <em>it</em> and be furious; <em>Schin</em> he shall gnash with his teeth and waste away: <em>Tau</em> The desire of the wicked shall perish.
10 The wicked will see and be vexed, they will gnash their teeth and waste away; the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.
