Psalms 41

NIRV

NIV

1 Blessed is the one who cares about weak people. When he is in trouble, the LORD saves him.
1 Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the LORD delivers them in times of trouble.
2 The LORD will guard him and keep him alive. He will bless him in the land. He won't hand him over to the wishes of his enemies.
2 The LORD protects and preserves them— they are counted among the blessed in the land— he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.
3 The LORD will take care of him when he is lying sick in bed. He will make him well again.
3 The LORD sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.
4 I said, "Lord, show me your favor. Heal me. I have sinned against you."
4 I said, “Have mercy on me, LORD; heal me, for I have sinned against you.”
5 My enemies are saying bad things about me. They say, "When will he die and be forgotten?"
5 My enemies say of me in malice, “When will he die and his name perish?”
6 When anyone comes to see me, he says things he doesn't mean. At the same time, he thinks up lies to tell against me. Then he goes out and spreads those lies around.
6 When one of them comes to see me, he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander; then he goes out and spreads it around.
7 All of my enemies whisper to each other about me. They want something terrible to happen to me.
7 All my enemies whisper together against me; they imagine the worst for me, saying,
8 They say, "He is sick and will die very soon. He will never get up from his bed again."
8 “A vile disease has afflicted him; he will never get up from the place where he lies.”
9 Even my close friend, whom I trusted, has deserted me. I even shared my bread with him.
9 Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me.
10 But Lord, show me your favor. Make me well, so I can pay them back.
10 But may you have mercy on me, LORD; raise me up, that I may repay them.
11 Then I will know that you are pleased with me, because my enemies haven't won the battle over me.
11 I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.
12 You will take good care of me because I've been honest. You will let me be with you forever.
12 Because of my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever.
13 Give praise to the Lord, the God of Israel, for ever and ever. Amen and Amen.
13 Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.
