Psalm 52

JUB 1 Why dost thou boast of evil, O strong man? The mercy of God is day by day. NIV 1 Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God? JUB 2 Thy tongue devises wickedness like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. NIV 2 You who practice deceit, your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor. JUB 3 Thou dost love evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. NIV 3 You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. JUB 4 Thou dost love all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. NIV 4 You love every harmful word, you deceitful tongue! JUB 5 God shall likewise cast thee down for ever; he shall cut thee off and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah. NIV 5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and pluck you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. JUB 6 The righteous also shall see and fear and shall laugh at him, saying: NIV 6 The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at you, saying, JUB 7 Behold, this is the man that did not make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches and strengthened himself in his wickedness. NIV 7 “Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!” JUB 8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the eternal mercy of God for ever. NIV 8 But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever. JUB 9 I will praise thee for ever because thou hast done it, and I will wait on thy name, for it is good before thy merciful ones. NIV 9 For what you have done I will always praise you in the presence of your faithful people. And I will hope in your name, for your name is good.
