1 Salmo di Davide, dato al capo de’ Musici, sopra i figliuoli di Iedutun. L’ANIMA mia si acqueta in Dio solo; Da lui procede la mia salute.

2 Egli solo è la mia rocca e la mia salvezza, Il mio alto ricetto; io non sarò giammai grandemente smosso.

3 Infino a quando vi avventerete sopra un uomo? Voi stessi sarete uccisi tutti quanti; E sarete simili ad una parete chinata, E ad un muricciuolo sospinto.

4 Essi non consigliano d’altro che di sospinger giù quest’uomo dalla sua altezza; Prendono piacere in menzogna; Benedicono colla lor bocca, Ma maledicono nel loro interiore. Sela.

5 Anima mia, acquetati in Dio solo; Perciocchè la mia speranza pende da lui.

6 Egli solo è la mia rocca e la mia salvezza; Egli è il mio alto ricetto, io non sarò giammai smosso.

7 In Dio è la mia salvezza e la mia gloria; In Dio è la mia forte rocca, il mio ricetto.

8 Confidatevi in lui, o popolo, in ogni tempo; Spandete i vostri cuori nel suo cospetto; Iddio è la nostra speranza. Sela.

9 Gli uomini volgari non sono altro che vanità, E i nobili altro che menzogna; Se fosser messi in bilance, Tutti insieme sarebbero più leggieri che la vanità stessa.

10 Non vi confidate in oppressione, Nè in rapina; non datevi alla vanità; Se le ricchezze abbondano, Non vi mettete il cuore.

11 Iddio ha parlato una volta, E due volte ho udito lo stesso; Che ogni forza appartiene a Dio;

12 E che a te, Signore, appartiene la benignità; Perciocchè tu renderai la retribuzione a ciascuno secondo le sue opere.

1 Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.

2 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

3 How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down— this leaning wall, this tottering fence?

4 Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.

5 Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.

6 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.

7 My salvation and my honor depend on God ; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.

8 Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

9 Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.

10 Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.

11 One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: “Power belongs to you, God,

12 and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”; and, “You reward everyone according to what they have done.”
