Titus 3:1-11

NAS 1 Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed, NIV 1 Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, NAS 2 to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men. NIV 2 to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone. NAS 3 For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. NIV 3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. NAS 4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, NIV 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, NAS 5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, NIV 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, NAS 6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, NIV 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, NAS 7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. NIV 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. NAS 8 This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God will be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men. NIV 8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone. NAS 9 But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and strife and disputes about the Law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. NIV 9 But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. NAS 10 Reject a factious man after a first and second warning, NIV 10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them. NAS 11 knowing that such a man is perverted and is sinning, being self-condemned. NIV 11 You may be sure that such people are warped and sinful; they are self-condemned.
