1 Chronicles 6:17-27

17 These are the names of the sons of Gershom: Livni and Shim'i.

18 The sons of K'hat:'Amram, Yitz'har, Hevron and 'Uzi'el.

19 The sons of M'rari: Machli and Mushi. These are the families of the L'vi'im according to father's clans:

20 [The descendants] of Gershom: his son Livni, his son Yachat, his son Zimah,

21 his son Yo'ach, his son 'Iddo, his son Zerach, his son Ye'atrai.

22 The descendants of K'hat: his son 'Amminadav, his son Korach, his son Asir,

23 his son Elkanah, his son Evyasaf, his son Asir,

24 his son Tachat, his son Uri'el, his son 'Uziyah and his son Sha'ul.

25 The sons of Elkanah: 'Amasai and Achimot.

26 As for Elkanah, the sons of Elkanah: his son Tzofai, his son Nachat,

27 his son Eli'av, his son Yerocham and his son Elkanah.

INTRODUCTION TO 1 CHRONICLES 6

This chapter begins with the fathers and heads of the tribe of Levi, 1Ch 6:1-3, and reckons up the high priests in the line of Eleazar, to the Babylonish captivity, 1Ch 6:4-15 gives an account of the families of the sons of Levi, 1Ch 6:16-30 and of those Levites that were employed as singers, and in other ministrations in the sanctuary in the times of David and Solomon, 1Ch 6:31-49, then follows a repetition of the sons of Aaron in the line of Eleazar, to the said times, 1Ch 6:50-53, and a recital of the dwelling places of the Levites in the several tribes, 1Ch 6:54-81.
