1 Chronicles 9:32-42

32 Some of their brothers, of the sons of the Kehati, were over the show bread, to prepare it every Shabbat.
33 These are the singers, heads of fathers' [houses] of the Levites, [who lived] in the chambers [and were] free [from other service]; for they were employed in their work day and night.
34 These were heads of fathers' [houses] of the Levites, throughout their generations, chief men: these lived at Yerushalayim.
35 In Giv`on there lived the father of Giv`on, Ye`i'el, whose wife's name was Ma`akhah:
36 and his firstborn son `Avdon, and Tzur, and Kish, and Ba`al, and Ner, and Nadav,
37 and Gedor, and Achyo, and Zekharyah, and Miklot.
38 Miklot became the father of Shim'am. They also lived with their brothers in Yerushalayim, over against their brothers.
39 Ner became the father of Kish; and Kish became the father of Sha'ul; and Sha'ul became the father of Yonatan, and Malki-Shua, and Avinadav, and Eshba`al.
40 The son of Yonatan was Meriv-Ba`al; and Meriv-Ba`al became the father of Mikhah.
41 The sons of Mikhah: Piton, and Melekh, and Tachre`a, [and Achaz].
42 Achaz became the father of Ya`rah; and Ya`rah became the father of `Alemet, and `Azmavet, and Zimri; and Zimri became the father of Motzah;

INTRODUCTION TO 1 CHRONICLES 9

The genealogies of the several tribes being given, according as they were written in the books of the kings of Israel, 1Ch 9:1, an account follows of those who first settled in Jerusalem after their return from the Babylonish captivity; of the Israelites, 1Ch 9:2-9, of the priests, 1Ch 9:10-13 of the Levites, and of the charge and offices of several of the priests and Levites, 1Ch 9:14-34, and the chapter is concluded with a repetition of the genealogy of the ancestors and posterity of Saul king of Israel, 1Ch 9:35-44.
