1 Samuel 19:1-6

1 Y habló Saúl a Jonatán su hijo, y a todos sus criados, para que mataran a David; mas Jonatán hijo de Saúl amaba a David en gran manera

2 Y dio aviso a David, diciendo: Saúl mi padre procura matarte; por tanto, mira ahora por ti hasta la mañana, y estate en un lugar secreto, y escóndete

3 Y yo saldré y estaré junto a mi padre en el campo donde estuvieres; y hablaré de ti a mi padre, y te haré saber lo que viere

4 Y Jonatán habló bien de David a Saúl su padre, y le dijo: No peque el rey contra su siervo David, pues que ningún pecado ha cometido contra ti; antes sus obras te han sido muy buenas

5 porque él puso su alma en su palma, e hirió al filisteo, y el SEÑOR hizo una gran salvación a todo Israel. Tú lo viste, y te alegraste; ¿por qué, pues, pecarás contra la sangre inocente, matando a David sin causa

6 Y oyendo Saúl la voz de Jonatán, juró: Vive el SEÑOR, que no morirá

INTRODUCTION TO FIRST SAMUEL 19

This chapter relates the dangers David was exposed unto through Saul's enmity at him, and his deliverance from them, as by the notice Jonathan gave him of his father's designs against him, and by his kind interposition on his behalf, 1Sa 19:1-7; by David's slipping out of Saul's presence, when he was about to cast a javelin at him, 1Sa 19:8-10; by Michal's letting him down through a window, when Saul sent messengers to kill him, and by deceiving them with an image laid in his bed in the room of him, 1Sa 19:11-17, and again by Samuel's protection of him at Naioth, whither David fled, and where Saul sent messengers after him, and at length came himself; and instead of laying hands on David, both he and the messengers were set a prophesying, 1Sa 19:18-24.
