1 Samuel 6:10-20

10 Y aquellos varones lo hicieron así; tomando dos vacas que criaban, las uncieron al carro, y encerraron en casa sus becerros

11 Luego pusieron el arca del SEÑOR sobre el carro, y la caja con los ratones de oro y con las formas de sus hemorroides

12 Y las vacas se fueron derecho por el camino de Bet-semes, e iban por un mismo camino andando y bramando, sin apartarse ni a diestra ni a siniestra; y los cardinales de los filisteos fueron tras ellas hasta el término de Bet-semes

13 Y los de Bet-semes segaban su cosecha de trigo en el valle; y alzando sus ojos vieron el arca, y se regocijaron cuando la vieron

14 Y el carro vino al campo de Josué bet-semita, y paró allí porque allí había una gran piedra; y ellos cortaron la madera del carro, y ofrecieron las vacas en holocausto al SEÑOR

15 Y los levitas bajaron el arca del SEÑOR, y la caja que estaba junto a ella, en la cual estaban las alhajas de oro, y las pusieron sobre aquella gran piedra; y los varones de Bet-semes sacrificaron holocaustos y mataron víctimas al SEÑOR en aquel día

16 Lo cual viendo los cinco cardinales de los filisteos, se volvieron a Ecrón el mismo día

17 Estas pues son las hemorroides de oro que pagaron los filisteos al SEÑOR en expiación por su culpa: por Asdod una, por Gaza una, por Ascalón una, por Gat una, por Ecrón una

18 y ratones de oro conforme al número de todas las ciudades de los filisteos pertenecientes a los cinco cardinales, en rescate por los de las ciudades fuertes y por los moradores de los campos, hasta la gran piedra sobre la cual pusieron el arca del SEÑOR. Tienen esto en memoria en el campo de Josué, bet-semita hasta hoy

19 Entonces hirió Dios de los de Bet-semes, porque habían mirado el arca del SEÑOR; hirió en el pueblo setenta varones y cincuenta mil hombres. Y el pueblo se puso de luto, porque el SEÑOR había herido al pueblo de tan gran plaga

20 Y dijeron los de Bet-semes: ¿Quién podrá estar delante del SEÑOR el Dios santo? ¿Y a quién subirá desde nosotros

INTRODUCTION TO FIRST SAMUEL 6

In this chapter we are told the Philistines advised with their priests what to do with the ark, and wherewith to send it home, 1Sa 6:1,2 whose advice was to send with it a trespass offering, golden images of emerods and mice, and to put it on a new cart, and the images in a coffer on the side of the ark, and draw it with two cows, 1Sa 6:3-8, and gave them a token whereby they might know whether they had been smitten by the God of Israel or not, 1Sa 6:9 which advice they took, and acted in all things according to it; and the lords of the Philistines accompanied the ark to the border of Bethshemesh, 1Sa 6:10-12, where they of Bethshemesh received it with joy, and offered the kine for a burnt offering to the Lord, and the Levites took care of the ark and presents in it, and the lords of the Philistines returned home, 1Sa 6:13-18, but they of Bethshemesh looking into the ark were smitten of God, upon which they sent to the men of Kirjathjearim to fetch it from them, 1Sa 6:19-21.
