2 Reyes 25:1-7

1 Y aconteció a los nueve años de su reinado, en el mes décimo, a los diez del mes, que Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia vino con todo su ejército contra Jerusalén, y la cercó; y levantaron contra ella ingenios alrededor

2 Y estuvo la ciudad cercada hasta el undécimo año del rey Sedequías

3 A los nueve del mes prevaleció el hambre en la ciudad, y no hubo pan para el pueblo de la tierra

4 Abierta ya la ciudad, huyeron de noche todos los hombres de guerra por el camino de la puerta que estaba entre los dos muros, junto a los huertos del rey, estando los caldeos alrededor de la ciudad; y se fueron por el camino de la campiña

5 Y el ejército de los caldeos siguió al rey, y lo tomó en las llanuras de Jericó, habiéndose esparcido de él todo su ejército

6 Tomado, pues, el rey, le trajeron al rey de Babilonia a Ribla, y profirieron contra él sentencia

7 Y mataron a los hijos de Sedequías en presencia suya; y a Sedequías sacaron los ojos, y atado con cadenas de bronce lo llevaron a Babilonia

INTRODUCTION TO 2 KINGS 25

In this chapter is an account of the siege, taking, and burning of the city of Jerusalem, and of the carrying captive the king and the inhabitants to Babylon, 2Ki 25:1-12, as also of the pillars and vessels of the temple brought thither, 2Ki 25:13-17 and of the putting to death several of the principal persons of the land, 2Ki 25:18-22, and of the miserable condition of the rest under Gedaliah, whom Ishmael slew, 2Ki 25:23-26, and the chapter, and so the history, is concluded with the kindness Jehoiachin met with from the king of Babylon, after thirty seven years' captivity, 2Ki 25:27-30.
