2 Samuel 2:6-16

6 Ahora pues, el SEÑOR haga con vosotros misericordia y verdad; y yo también os haré bien por esto que habéis hecho

7 Esfuércense pues ahora vuestras manos, y sed valientes; pues que muerto Saúl vuestro señor, los de la casa de Judá me han ungido por rey sobre ellos

8 Mas Abner hijo de Ner, general del ejército de Saúl, tomó a Is-boset hijo de Saúl, y lo hizo pasar a Mahanaim

9 Y lo proclamó rey sobre Galaad, sobre Gesuri, sobre Jezreel, sobre Efraín, sobre Benjamín, y sobre todo Israel

10 De cuarenta años era Is-boset hijo de Saúl, cuando comenzó a reinar sobre Israel; y reinó dos años. Sólo la casa de Judá seguía a David

11 Y fue el número de los días que David reinó en Hebrón sobre la casa de Judá, siete años y seis meses

12 Y Abner hijo de Ner salió de Mahanaim a Gabaón con los siervos de Is-boset hijo de Saúl

13 Y Joab hijo de Sarvia, y los criados de David, salieron y los encontraron junto al estanque de Gabaón; y cuando se juntaron, se pararon los unos a un lado del estanque, y los otros al otro lado

14 Y dijo Abner a Joab: Levántense ahora los jóvenes, y maniobren delante de nosotros. Y Joab respondió: Levántense

15 Entonces se levantaron, y en número de doce, pasaron de Benjamín de la parte de Is-boset hijo de Saúl; y doce de los siervos de David

16 Y cada uno echó mano de la cabeza de su compañero, y le metió su espada por el costado de su compañero, y cayeron a una; y fue llamado aquel lugar, Helcat-hazurim (la heredad de los fuertes), el cual está en Gabaón

INTRODUCTION TO SECOND SAMUEL 2

This chapter relates that David, upon inquiring of the Lord, was directed to go up to Hebron, and did, where he was anointed king of Judah, 2Sa 2:1-4. And that being told of the kindness of the men of Jabeshgilead in burying Saul, he sent them thanks, and promised to remember it, and took the opportunity to let them know he was anointed king over Judah, 2Sa 2:5-7. It also relates that Abner set up Ishbosheth, the son of Saul, to be king over Israel, 2Sa 2:8-11; and that there was an encounter between twelve of Abner's men and twelve of David's, which brought on a sore battle between them, in which Abner was beaten, 2Sa 2:12-17; and Asahel, who was of David's party, was slain in the pursuit by Abner, 2Sa 2:18-25; when a retreat was sounded by Joab, at the influence of Abner, who, with his wen, betook themselves to Mahanaim, where he had left Ishbosheth, 2Sa 2:26-29. And the chapter closes with an account of the slain on both sides, the burial of Asahel, and the return of Joab with David's men to Hebron, 2Sa 2:30-32.
