Cantares 8:2-12

2 Te llevaría y te introduciría en la casa de mi madre, que me enseñaba; te daría a beber vino sazonado del zumo de mis granadas.

3 Esté su izquierda bajo mi cabeza y su derecha me abrace. EL ESPOSO:

4 Quiero que juréis, oh hijas de Jerusalén: que no despertaréis ni levantaréis a mi amor, hasta que quiera. EL CORO:

5 ¿Quién es ésta que sube del desierto, recostada sobre su amado? EL ESPOSO: Debajo del manzano te desperté; allí tu madre tuvo dolores de parto por ti, allí tuvo dolores de parto, y te dio a luz. LA ESPOSA:

6 Ponme como sello sobre tu corazón, como sello sobre tu brazo, porque fuerte como la muerte es el amor, inexorables como el Seol , los celos; sus destellos, destellos de fuego, la llama misma del SEÑOR .

7 Las muchas aguas no pueden extinguir el amor, ni los ríos lo anegarán; si el hombre diera todos los bienes de su casa por amor, de cierto lo menospreciarían. EL CORO:

8 Tenemos una hermana pequeña, y todavía no tiene pechos; ¿qué haremos por nuestra hermana el día en que sea pedida?

9 Si ella es una muralla, edificaremos sobre ella un baluarte de plata; pero si es una puerta, la reforzaremos con tablas de cedro. LA ESPOSA:

10 Yo soy una muralla, y mis pechos como torres, entonces fui a sus ojos como quien halla la paz.

11 Salomón tenía una viña en Baal-hamón, confió la viña a los guardas; cada uno debía traer por su fruto mil siclos de plata.

12 Mi viña, que es mía, está a mi disposición; los mil siclos son para ti, Salomón, y doscientos, para los que guardan su fruto. EL ESPOSO:

Cantares 8:2-12 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO SONG OF SOLOMON 8

This chapter begins with an ardent wish of the church for a free and intimate converse with Christ; declaring what she would do to him, and for him, should she have such an interview with him, So 8:1,2; what familiarity should be between them, So 8:3; charging the daughters of Jerusalem not to give him any disturbance, So 8:4. Upon which they inquire who she was that was in such a posture they saw her in, So 8:5; when the church, instead of giving them an answer, says some things concerning her beloved, on whom they saw her leaning; and makes some requests to him for more nearness to him, and manifestations of his love to her; urged from the strength her love and affections to him, which was invincible, So 8:6,7. Next follows a speech of the church about her little sister; expressing a concern for her, and what she would do to her and with her, So 8:8,9; and the answer of the little sister, declaring what she, was, and what she enjoyed, So 8:10; then the words of the church again, concerning her husband's vineyard; the place, keepers, and profit of it, So 8:11,12. And the chapter, and with it the Song, is concluded with a request of Christ to the church, that he might hear her voice, So 8:13; and with a petition of hers to him, that he would come quickly to her, So 8:14.
