Daniel 2:16-26

16 Daniel fue a ver al rey inmediatamente y le pidió más tiempo para comunicarle el significado del sueño.

17 Entonces Daniel regresó a casa y contó a sus amigos Ananías, Misael y Azarías lo que había ocurrido.

18 Les rogó que pidieran al Dios del cielo que tuviera misericordia y les revelara el secreto, para que no fueran ejecutados junto con los demás sabios de Babilonia.

19 Esa noche el misterio le fue revelado a Daniel en una visión. Entonces alabó al Dios del cielo

20 y dijo:
«Alabado sea el nombre de Dios por siempre y para siempre,
porque a él pertenecen toda la sabiduría y todo el poder.

21 Él controla el curso de los sucesos del mundo;
él quita reyes y pone otros reyes.
Él da sabiduría a los sabios
y conocimiento a los estudiosos.

22 Él revela cosas profundas y misteriosas
y conoce lo que se oculta en la oscuridad,
aunque él está rodeado de luz.

23 Te agradezco y te alabo, Dios de mis antepasados,
porque me has dado sabiduría y fortaleza.
Me revelaste lo que te pedimos
y nos diste a conocer lo que el rey exigía».

24 Daniel interpreta el sueño
Entonces Daniel fue a ver a Arioc, a quien el rey había ordenado ejecutar a los sabios de Babilonia. Daniel le dijo: «No mates a los sabios. Llévame ante el rey y le explicaré el significado de su sueño».

25 Enseguida Arioc llevó a Daniel ante el rey y anunció: «¡Entre los cautivos de Judá, encontré a uno que le dirá al rey el significado de su sueño!».

26 Entonces el rey le preguntó a Daniel (también llamado Beltsasar):
—¿Es cierto? ¿Puedes decirme lo que soñé y lo que mi sueño significa?

Daniel 2:16-26 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO DANIAL 2

The subject of this chapter is a dream which Nebuchadnezzar had dreamed, but had forgot; upon which he calls his magicians and astrologers together, to tell him it, and the interpretation of it; threatening them with death if they did not, and promising them great rewards and honour if they did, Da 2:1-6, they urge the unreasonableness of the demand, and the impossibility of the thing; which so highly incensed the king, that he ordered their immediate destruction, Da 2:7-13, Daniel and his companions being in danger, he goes in to the king, and desires time, and he would show him what he had dreamed; which being granted, he spent it in prayer to God, Da 2:14-18, and the thing being revealed to him, he gave thanks to God, Da 2:19-23, and being introduced to the king, he both told him his dream, and the interpretation of it; which concerned the four monarchies of the world, and the everlasting kingdom of the Messiah, Da 2:24-45, upon which he was highly honoured, and greatly promoted by the king, Da 2:46-49.
