Deuteronomio 11:9-19

9 Si obedeces, disfrutarás de una larga vida en la tierra que Dios juró dar a tus antepasados y a ti, que eres su descendencia, ¡una tierra donde fluyen la leche y la miel!

10 Pues la tierra donde estás a punto de entrar y que vas a poseer no es como la de Egipto, de la cual saliste, donde tenías que plantar tus semillas y hacer zanjas de riego con los pies como si fuera un huerto.

11 En cambio, la tierra que pronto tomarás para ti es una región de colinas y valles, con lluvias abundantes;

12 una tierra que el Señor
tu Dios cuida. ¡Él se ocupa de cuidarla en cada época del año!

13 »Si obedeces cuidadosamente todos los mandatos que te entrego hoy y si amas al Señor
tu Dios y lo sirves con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma,

14 él mandará las lluvias propias de cada estación —las tempranas y las tardías—, para que puedas juntar las cosechas de granos, el vino nuevo y el aceite de oliva.

15 Te dará buenos pastizales para que se alimenten tus animales, y tendrás todo lo que quieras comer.

16 »Pero ten cuidado. No dejes que tu corazón sea engañado y entonces te alejes del Señor
y sirvas y rindas culto a otros dioses.

17 Si haces eso, el enojo del Señor
arderá contra ti. Entonces cerrará el cielo y detendrá la lluvia, y la tierra dejará de producir sus cosechas, así que pronto morirás en esa buena tierra que el Señor
te da.

18 »Por lo tanto, comprométete de todo corazón a cumplir estas palabras que te doy. Átalas a tus manos y llévalas sobre la frente para recordarlas.

19 Enséñalas a tus hijos. Habla de ellas en tus conversaciones cuando estés en tu casa y cuando vayas por el camino, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes.

INTRODUCTION TO DEUTERONOMY 11

In this chapter, the exhortation to love the Lord, and keep his commands, is repeated and urged again and again from various considerations; as not only from the chastisement of Pharaoh and the wicked Egyptians, but of such Israelites who offended the Lord, and transgressed his law, De 12:1-7, from the goodness and excellency of the land they were going to inherit, De 11:8-11, from the blessing of rain that would come upon it, and be productive of all good things for man and beast, in case of obedience, and a restraint of it in case of disobedience, De 11:12-17, from the continuance of them and their offspring in the land, should they be careful to observe the commands themselves, and teach them their children, De 11:18-21, and from the extensiveness of their conquests and dominions, De 11:22-25 and from the different issue and effects of their conduct and behaviour, a blessing upon them if obedient, but a curse if disobedient, De 11:26-28 and the chapter is concluded with an exhortation to pronounce the blessing on Mount Gerizim, and the curse on Mount Ebal; the situation of which places is described when they should come into the land of Canaan, of which they are assured, De 11:29-32.
