Deuteronomio 4:26-36

26 »Hoy pongo al cielo y a la tierra como testigos contra ustedes. Si rompen mi pacto, pronto desaparecerán de la tierra que poseerán al cruzar el Jordán. Vivirán allí poco tiempo y después serán destruidos por completo.

27 Pues el Señor
los dispersará entre las naciones, donde solo unos pocos sobrevivirán.

28 Allí, en tierra extraña, rendirán culto a ídolos hechos de madera y de hierro, a dioses que no ven, ni oyen, ni comen, ni huelen.

29 Sin embargo, desde allí, buscarán nuevamente al Señor
su Dios. Y si lo buscan con todo el corazón y con toda el alma, lo encontrarán.

30 »En un futuro lejano, cuando estén sufriendo todas esas cosas, finalmente regresarán al Señor
su Dios y escucharán lo que él les dice.

31 Pues el Señor
su Dios es Dios compasivo; no los abandonará, ni los destruirá, ni se olvidará del pacto solemne que hizo con sus antepasados.

32 Hay solo un Dios
»Investiga toda la historia, desde el momento en que Dios creó a los seres humanos sobre la tierra hasta ahora, y busca desde un extremo del cielo hasta el otro. ¿Alguna vez se ha visto u oído algo tan grande como esto?

33 ¿Hay alguna otra nación que haya escuchado la voz de Dios
hablar desde el fuego —tal como la escuchaste tú— y haya sobrevivido?

34 ¿Existe algún otro dios que se haya atrevido a sacar a una nación de otra nación y hacerla suya con mano fuerte y brazo poderoso por medio de pruebas, señales asombrosas, milagros, guerras, y hechos aterradores? Eso fue precisamente lo que el Señor
tu Dios hizo por ti en Egipto, frente a tus propios ojos.

35 »Él te mostró esas cosas, para que supieras que el Señor
es Dios y que no hay ningún otro.

36 Él te permitió oír su voz desde el cielo para instruirte. Te permitió ver su fuego poderoso aquí, en la tierra, para hablarte desde allí.

INTRODUCTION TO DEUTERONOMY 4

This chapter contains an exhortation to Israel to keep the commands, statutes, and judgments of God, urged from the superior excellency of them to those of all other nations, De 4:1-8, from the manner in which they were delivered, out of the midst of fire, by a voice of words, but no similitude seen, De 4:9-15, and particularly the Israelites are cautioned against idolatry, from the consideration of the goodness of God to them, in bringing them out of Egypt, De 4:16-20, and the rather Moses is urgent upon them to be diligent in their obedience to the laws of God, because he should quickly be removed from them, De 4:21-24, and should they be disobedient to them, it would provoke the Lord to destroy them, or to carry them captive into other lands, De 4:25-28 though even then, if they repented and sought the Lord, and became obedient, he would be merciful to them, and not forsake them, De 4:29-31 and they are put in mind again of the amazing things God had done for them, in speaking to them out of fire, and they alive; in bringing them out of another nation, and driving out other nations to make room for them; all which he improves, as so many arguments to move them to obedience to the divine commands, De 4:32-40 and then notice is taken of the three cities of refuge, separated on this side Jordan, De 4:41-43, and the chapter is concluded with observing, that this is the law, and these the testimonies, Moses declared and repeated to the children of Israel in the country of Sihon and Og, who were delivered into their hands, and their lands possessed by them, which laid them under fresh obligations to yield obedience to God, De 4:44-49.
