Éxodo 8:8-18

8 Entonces el faraón mandó llamar a Moisés y a Aarón, y les suplicó:
—Rueguen al Señor
que quite las ranas de mí y de mi gente. Yo dejaré salir a su pueblo para que ofrezca sacrificios al Señor
.

9 —¡Tú fija la hora! —respondió Moisés—. Dime cuándo quieres que ore por ti, por tus funcionarios y por tu gente. Entonces tú y tus casas se librarán de las ranas, y estas quedarán solo en el río Nilo.

10 —Háganlo mañana mismo —dijo el faraón.
—De acuerdo —respondió Moisés—, se hará como has dicho. Entonces sabrás que no hay nadie como el Señor
nuestro Dios.

11 Las ranas se alejarán de ti y de tus casas, de tus funcionarios y de tu gente. Quedarán solamente en el río Nilo.

12 Entonces Moisés y Aarón salieron del palacio del faraón, y Moisés clamó al Señor
acerca de las ranas que le había enviado al faraón.

13 Y el Señor
hizo exactamente lo que Moisés había predicho. Murieron todas las ranas en las casas, en los patios y en los campos.

14 Los egipcios las apilaron en grandes montones, y un hedor insoportable llenó todo el territorio.

15 Pero cuando el faraón vio que había alivio, se puso terco
y se negó a escuchar a Moisés y a Aarón, tal como el Señor
había dicho.

16 Plaga de mosquitos
Así que el Señor
le dijo a Moisés: «Dile a Aarón: “Extiende tu vara y golpea el suelo. El polvo se convertirá en enjambres de mosquitos por toda la tierra de Egipto”».

17 Entonces Moisés y Aarón hicieron tal como el Señor
les ordenó. Cuando Aarón extendió la mano y golpeó el suelo con su vara, los mosquitos infestaron todo el territorio y tanto los egipcios como sus animales quedaron cubiertos de ellos. Todo el polvo de la tierra de Egipto se convirtió en mosquitos.

18 Los magos del faraón intentaron hacer lo mismo mediante sus artes ocultas, pero esta vez no pudieron. Y los mosquitos estaban sobre todos: gente y animales por igual.

INTRODUCTION TO EXODUS 8

In this chapter Pharaoh is threatened with the plague of frogs, in case he refused to let Israel go, which accordingly was brought upon him, Ex 8:1-6 and though the magicians did something similar to it, yet these were so troublesome to Pharaoh, that he promised to let the people go, and sacrifice to God, if they removed; and a time being fixed for the removal of them, it was accordingly done at the entreaty of Moses and Aaron, Ex 8:7-14 but there being a respite, Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and the plague of lice is ordered, and which was executed; and though this the magicians essayed to do, and could not, but owned it to be the finger of God, yet Pharaoh's heart was hardened, Ex 8:15-19 wherefore he is threatened with a swarm of flies, which should not infest Goshen, only the places where the Egyptians dwelt, and it was so, Ex 8:20-24 upon which Pharaoh called for Moses, and declared himself willing the people would sacrifice in the land; but this not being satisfactory, he agreed they should go into the wilderness, but not so far; and on the account of the entreaty of Moses, the plague was removed; but still Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he would not let the people go, Ex 8:25-32.
