Ezequiel 36:23-33

23 Mostraré cuán santo es mi gran nombre, el nombre que deshonraron entre las naciones. Cuando revele mi santidad por medio de ustedes ante los ojos de las naciones, dice el Señor
Soberano, entonces ellas sabrán que yo soy el Señor

24 Pues los recogeré de entre todas las naciones y los haré regresar a su tierra.

25 »”Entonces los rociaré con agua pura y quedarán limpios. Lavaré su inmundicia y dejarán de rendir culto a ídolos.

26 Les daré un corazón nuevo y pondré un espíritu nuevo dentro de ustedes. Les quitaré ese terco corazón de piedra y les daré un corazón tierno y receptivo.

27 Pondré mi Espíritu en ustedes para que sigan mis decretos y se aseguren de obedecer mis ordenanzas.

28 »”Vivirán en Israel, la tierra que hace mucho tiempo di a sus antepasados. Ustedes serán mi pueblo y yo seré su Dios.

29 Los limpiaré de su conducta inmunda. Les daré buenas cosechas de grano y no enviaré más hambrunas a su tierra.

30 Les daré abundantes cosechas de sus árboles frutales y sus campos, y nunca más las naciones vecinas podrán burlarse de su tierra a causa de las hambrunas.

31 Entonces recordarán los pecados que cometieron en el pasado y se avergonzarán de ustedes mismos por todas las cosas detestables que hicieron.

32 Sin embargo, recuerden, dice el Señor
Soberano, que no lo hago porque lo merezcan. ¡Oh Israel, pueblo mío, ustedes deberían estar totalmente avergonzados por todo lo que hicieron!

33 »”Esto dice el Señor
Soberano: cuando yo los limpie de sus pecados, volveré a poblar sus ciudades y se reconstruirán las ruinas.

Ezequiel 36:23-33 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO EZEKIEL 36

This chapter is a prophecy concerning the desolations of the land of Israel, and the causes of them; of the return of the people to it, and the fruitfulness of it; and of spiritual blessings bestowed upon them in the latter day. And first, for the comfort of the people of Israel, it is observed that their enemies that insulted them will suffer the vengeance of God's wrath, particularly the Edomites, Eze 36:1-7, that the land of Israel should again become fruitful, its cities rebuilt, men and beasts be multiplied upon it, and be no more liable to destruction, nor bear any more the reproach of the Heathen, Eze 36:8-15, the causes of its desolation and destruction, the sins of its inhabitants, especially bloodshed, idolatry, and profanation of the name of God, Eze 36:16-20, nevertheless the Lord promises to have mercy on them, and return them to their own land, not for their sakes, but for his own name's sake, Eze 36:21-24, then follow promises of spiritual blessings to them: as purification from all sin by the blood of Christ; regeneration by his Spirit and grace; and evangelical obedience as the fruit of that, Eze 36:25-27, and others of a mixed kind, respecting partly temporal and partly spiritual blessings, Eze 36:28-36, for all which it is expected of the Lord that he should be prayed unto for them; particularly their inhabitation in their own land, and the multiplication of them in it, with which the chapter concludes, Eze 36:37,38.
