Génesis 14:17-24

17 Melquisedec bendice a Abram
Después de que Abram regresó de su victoria sobre el rey Quedorlaomer y todos sus aliados, el rey de Sodoma salió a encontrarse con él en el valle de Save (que es el valle del Rey).

18 Y Melquisedec, rey de Salem y sacerdote del Dios Altísimo,
le llevó pan y vino a Abram.

19 Melquisedec bendijo a Abram con la siguiente bendición:
«Bendito sea Abram por Dios Altísimo,
Creador de los cielos y la tierra.

20 Y bendito sea Dios Altísimo,
que derrotó a tus enemigos por ti».
Luego Abram dio a Melquisedec una décima parte de todos los bienes que había recuperado.

21 El rey de Sodoma le dijo a Abram:
—Devuélveme a mi pueblo, el cual fue capturado; pero puedes quedarte con todos los bienes que recuperaste.

22 Abram le respondió al rey de Sodoma:
—Juro solemnemente ante el Señor
, Dios Altísimo, Creador de los cielos y la tierra,

23 que no tomaré nada de lo que a ti te pertenece, ni un simple hilo ni la correa de una sandalia. De otro modo, podrías decir: “Yo soy quien enriqueció a Abram”.

24 Aceptaré solamente lo que mis jóvenes guerreros ya han comido, y pido que tú entregues una porción justa de los bienes a mis aliados: Aner, Escol y Mamre.

INTRODUCTION TO GENESIS 14

This chapter gives an account of a war that was waged, and a battle fought between four kings on one side, and five on the other, and of the occasion and issue of it, who were the first kings, and this the first battle the Scriptures speak of, Ge 14:1-11; Lot and his goods being taken and carried off, with those of Sodom, by the conquerors, Abram hearing of it armed his men, and pursued after them, and overtook and overcame them, and rescued Lot and his goods, with others, and returned, Ge 14:12-16; when he was met by the kings of Sodom and Salem, who congratulated him on his victory, Ge 14:17-19; and what passed between him, and those great personages, is related, Ge 14:20-24.
