Génesis 35:6-16

6 Y Jacob llegó a Luz, es decir, Betel, que está en la tierra de Canaán, él y todo el pueblo que estaba con él.

7 Y edificó allí un altar, y llamó al lugar El-betel, porque allí Dios se le había manifestado cuando huía de su hermano.

8 Y murió Débora, nodriza de Rebeca, y fue sepultada al pie de Betel, debajo de la encina; y ésta fue llamada Alón-bacut .

9 Y Dios se apareció de nuevo a Jacob cuando volvió de Padán-aram, y lo bendijo.

10 Y Dios le dijo: Tu nombre es Jacob; no te llamarás más Jacob, sino que tu nombre será Israel. Y le puso el nombre de Israel.

11 También le dijo Dios: Yo soy el Dios Todopoderoso. Sé fecundo y multiplícate; una nación y multitud de naciones vendrán de ti, y reyes saldrán de tus lomos.

12 Y la tierra que di a Abraham y a Isaac, a ti te la daré; y daré la tierra a tu descendencia después de ti.

13 Entonces Dios subió de su lado, en el lugar donde había hablado con él.

14 Y Jacob erigió un pilar en el lugar donde Dios había hablado con él, un pilar de piedra, y derramó sobre él una libación; también derramó sobre él aceite.

15 Y Jacob le puso el nombre de Betel al lugar donde Dios había hablado con él.

16 Entonces partieron de Betel; y cuando aún faltaba cierta distancia para llegar a Efrata, Raquel comenzó a dar a luz y tuvo mucha dificultad en su parto.

INTRODUCTION TO GENESIS 35

This chapter gives an account of Jacob's going to Bethel, and building an altar there by the order and direction of God, Ge 35:1-7, where Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died and was buried, Ge 35:8, and where God appeared to Jacob, confirmed the new name of Israel he had given him, and renewed to him the promises of the multiplication of his seed, and of their inheriting the land of Canaan, Ge 35:9-13; all which is gratefully acknowledged by Jacob, who erected a pillar in the place, and called it Bethel, in memory of God's gracious appearance to him there, Ge 35:14,15; from hence he journeyed towards his father's house, and on the way Rachel his wife fell in travail, and bore him a son, and died, and was buried near Ephrath, Ge 35:16-21; near this place Reuben committed incest with Bilhah, Ge 35:22, and the names of the twelve sons of Jacob are given, Ge 35:23-26; and the chapter is closed with an account of Jacob's arrival at his father's house, of the death of Isaac, and of his burial at the direction of his two sons, Ge 35:27-29.
