Jeremia 41:12-18

12 da nahmen sie alle Männer und zogen hin, um wider Ismael, den Sohn Nethanjas, zu streiten; und sie fanden ihn an dem großen Wasser, das bei Gibeon ist.

13 Und es geschah, als alles Volk, welches mit Ismael war, Jochanan, den Sohn Kareachs, sah und alle Heerobersten, die mit ihm waren, da freuten sie sich.

14 Und alles Volk, welches Ismael von Mizpa gefangen weggeführt hatte, wandte sich und kehrte um und ging zu Jochanan, dem Sohne Kareachs, über.

15 Ismael aber, der Sohn Nethanjas, entrann vor Jochanan mit acht Männern und zog zu den Kindern Ammon.

16 Da nahmen Jochanan, der Sohn Kareachs, und alle Heerobersten, die mit ihm waren, den ganzen Überrest des Volkes, welchen er von Ismael, dem Sohne Nethanjas, von Mizpa zurückgebracht, nachdem dieser den Gedalja, den Sohn Achikams, erschlagen hatte, die Männer, die Kriegsleute, und die Weiber und die Kinder und die Kämmerer, welche er von Gibeon zurückgebracht hatte;

17 und sie zogen hin und machten halt in der Herberge Kimhams, welche bei Bethlehem ist, um fortzuziehen, damit sie nach Ägypten kämen,

18 aus Furcht vor den Chaldäern; denn sie fürchteten sich vor ihnen, weil Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, Gedalja, den Sohn Achikams, erschlagen, welchen der König von Babel über das Land bestellt hatte.

INTRODUCTION TO JEREMIAH 41

This chapter relates the event of the conspiracy against Gedaliah Johanan and the princes had informed him of, to which he gave no credit; but it proved true. An account is given of the murder of Gedaliah, and of the Jews and Chaldeans with him; and of the perpetrators of it, Jer 41:1-3; and of the chief of them, Ishmael's treacherous dealing with fourscore men that came from several parts to the house of God to offer sacrifice, who all perished by his hands, excepting ten, Jer 41:4-9; and of the rest of the people at Mizpah being carried away, in order to be captives among the Ammonites, Jer 41:10; and of Johanan, and the rest of the captives, hearing of all this, and coming out to fight with Ishmael; upon which the people deserted him, and he fled to the Ammonites, Jer 41:11-15; and of Johanan and the people settling in the way to Egypt, to flee there on occasion, should the Chaldeans fall on them for what was done to the governor, which they feared, Jer 41:16-18.
