Thengathered the chief priestsand the Pharisees a council,andsaid , What do we ? forthismandoethmanymiracles.

If we lethimthusalone , all men will believeonhim:and the Romans shall comeand take awaybothourplaceandnation.

Andone*ofthem, named Caiaphas,being the high priest that sameyear,said unto them,Yeknow nothing at all*,

Norconsiderthat it is expedient for us,thatoneman should diefor the people,and that the wholenationperishnot.

Andthis spake henotofhimself:butbeing high priestthatyear, he prophesiedthatJesusshoulddie for thatnation;

Andnot for thatnationonly,butthatalso he should gather togetherinone the children of God that were scattered abroad .

Thenfromthatday forth they took counsel together for toputhim to death .

Jesusthereforewalked no moreopenlyamong the Jews;butwentthenceunto a countrynear to the wilderness,into a citycalledEphraim, and therecontinuedwithhisdisciples.

And the Jews'passoverwas nigh at hand:andmanywent out of the countryup to Jerusalembefore the passover,topurifythemselves.

Then sought they forJesus,andspakeamongthemselves, as they stoodin the temple,Whatthinkye,that he willnotcometo the feast?
