ThentookMary a pound of ointment of spikenard*, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus,andwipedhisfeet with herhair:and the house was filledwith the odour of the ointment.

Whywasnotthisointmentsold for three hundredpence,andgiven to the poor?

This he said, notthathecaredfor the poor;butbecause he was a thief,andhad the bag,andbare what was put therein.

ThensaidJesus,Letheralone: against the day of myburying hath she keptthis.

For the pooralways ye havewithyou;butme ye havenotalways.

Muchpeopleof the Jewsthereforeknewthat he wasthere:and they camenotforJesus' sake only,butthat they might seeLazarusalso,whom he had raisedfrom the dead.

But the chief priestsconsultedthat they might putLazarusalso to death;

Because that by reason of himmany of the Jews went away, andbelievedonJesus.

On the next daymuchpeople that were cometo the feast, when they heardthatJesus was comingtoJerusalem,

Tookbranches of palm trees,and went forthtomeethim,andcried, Hosanna:Blessed is the King of Israel that comethin the name of the Lord.
