Jueces 8:1-9

1 Y los de Efraín le dijeron: ¿Qué es esto que has hecho con nosotros, no llamándonos cuando ibas a la guerra contra Madián? Y le reconvinieron fuertemente.

2 A los cuales él respondió: ¿Qué he hecho yo ahora como vosotros? ¿No es el rebusco de Efraín mejor que la vendimia de Abiezer?

3 Dios ha entregado en vuestras manos a Oreb y a Zeeb, príncipes de Madián: ¿y qué pude yo hacer como vosotros? Entonces el enojo de ellos contra él se aplacó, luego que él habló esta palabra.

4 Y vino Gedeón al Jordán para pasar, él y los trescientos hombres que traía consigo, cansados del alcance.

5 Y dijo a los de Sucot: Yo os ruego que deis a la gente que me sigue algunos bocados de pan; porque están cansados, para que yo persiga a Zeba y a Zalmuna, reyes de Madián.

6 Y los principales de Sucot respondieron: ¿Está ya la mano de Zeba y Zalmuna en tu mano, para que hayamos nosotros de dar pan a tu ejército?

7 Y Gedeón dijo: Pues cuando el SEÑOR hubiere entregado en mi mano a Zeba y a Zalmuna, yo trillaré vuestra carne con espinas y abrojos del desierto.

8 Y de allí subió a Peniel, y les habló las mismas palabras. Y los de Peniel le respondieron como habían respondido los de Sucot.

9 Y él habló también a los de Peniel, diciendo: Cuando yo vuelva en paz, derribaré esta torre.

INTRODUCTION TO JUDGES 8

In this chapter we are told how Gideon pacified the Ephraimites, who complained because they were not sent unto to fight the Midianites, Jud 8:1-3 how he pursued the Midianites, until he took their two kings, and on his return chastised the men of Succoth and Penuel, because they refused to relieve his men with food as they were pursuing, Jud 8:4-17 how he slew the two kings of Midian, Jud 8:18-21 and after this conquest refused to take the government of Israel when offered him, Jud 8:22,23 how he requested of the Israelites the earrings they had taken from the Midianites, with which he in weakness made an ephod, which proved a snare to his house, Jud 8:24-27 how that the people were in peace forty years during his life, and that he had a numerous issue, and died in a good old age, Jud 8:28-32 but that after his death the Israelites fell into idolatry, and were ungrateful to his family, Jud 8:33-35.
