10
"Twomen3went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a taxcollector.
11
"The Pharisee4stood and was prayingthis to himself: 'God, I thank You that I am not likeotherpeople: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, orevenlikethistaxcollector.
12
'I 5fasttwice a week; I 6paytithes of all that I get.'
13
"But the taxcollector, 7standingsomedistanceaway, 8was evenunwilling* to lift up his eyes to heaven, but 9was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, the sinner!'
14
"I tell you, thismanwent to his housejustifiedratherthan the other; 10for everyone who exaltshimself will be humbled, but he who humbleshimself will be exalted."
15
11And they were bringingeven their babies to Him so that He would touch them, but when the disciplessaw it, they began rebuking them.
16
But Jesuscalled for them, saying, "Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of Godbelongs to such as these.
17
"Truly I say to you, 12whoever* does not receive the kingdom of Godlike a child will not enter it at all."
