"And thenifanyonesays to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ '; or, 'Behold, He is there '; do not believe him;
22
for falseChrists and 1falseprophets will arise, and will show2signs and 3wonders, in order to leadastray, ifpossible, the elect.
23
"But takeheed; behold, I have told you everything in advance.
The Return of Christ
24"But in thosedays, after that tribulation, 4THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT,
25
5AND THE STARS WILL BE FALLING from heaven, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken.
26
"Then they will see6THE SON OF MAN7COMING IN CLOUDS with greatpower and glory.
27
"And then He will sendforth the angels, and 8will gathertogether His elect from the fourwinds, 9from the farthestend of the earth to the farthestend of heaven.
28
"Nowlearn the parable from the figtree: when its branch has alreadybecometender and putsforth its leaves, you know that summer is near.
29
"Even so, you too, when you seethesethingshappening, recognize that He is near, right at the door.
30
"Truly I say to you, thisgeneration will not passawayuntilallthesethingstakeplace.
31
"Heaven and earth will passaway, but My words will not passaway.
32
"10But of that dayorhournooneknows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.
33
"Takeheed, 11keep on the alert; for you do not knowwhen the appointed time will come.
34
"12It is like a manaway on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to eachone his task, alsocommanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert.
35
"Therefore, 13be on the alert -for you do not knowwhen the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or14when the roostercrows, or15in the morning -
36
in case he should comesuddenly and find you 16asleep.
37
"What I say to you I say to all, '17Be on the alert!' "
