Sacharja 4:2-12

2 und sprach zu mir: Was siehst du? Ich aber sprach: Ich sehe; und siehe, da stand ein Leuchter, ganz golden, mit einer Schale obendarauf, daran sieben Lampen waren, und je sieben Röhren an einer Lampe; {~} {~}

3 und zwei Ölbäume dabei, einer zur Rechten der Schale, der andere zur Linken.

4 Und ich antwortete und sprach zu dem Engel, der mit mir redete: Mein Herr, was ist das? {~}

5 Und der Engel, der mit mir redete, antwortete und sprach zu mir: Weißt du nicht, was das ist? Ich aber sprach: Nein, mein Herr.

6 Und er antwortete und sprach zu mir: Das ist das Wort des HERRN von Serubabel: Es soll nicht durch Heer oder Kraft, sondern durch meinen Geist geschehen, spricht der HERR Zebaoth. {~}

7 Wer bist du, du großer Berg, der doch vor Serubabel eine Ebene sein muß? Und er soll aufführen den ersten Stein, daß man rufen wird: Glück zu! Glück zu!

8 Und es geschah zu mir das Wort des HERRN und sprach:

9 Die Hände Serubabels haben dies Haus gegründet; seine Hände sollen's auch vollenden, daß ihr erfahret, daß mich der HERR zu euch gesandt hat. {~}

10 Denn wer ist, der diese geringen Tage verachte? Es werden mit Freuden sehen das Richtblei in Serubabels Hand jene sieben, welche sind des HERRN Augen, die alle Lande durchziehen. {~}

11 Und ich antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Was sind die zwei Ölbäume zur Rechten und zur Linken des Leuchters?

12 Und ich antwortete zum andernmal und sprach zu ihm: Was sind die zwei Zweige der Ölbäume, welche stehen bei den zwei goldenen Rinnen, daraus das goldene Öl herabfließt?

INTRODUCTION TO ZECHARIAH 4

In this chapter are contained the vision of a golden candlestick, and of two olive trees by it, and the explanation thereof. The preparation to this vision, which is the awaking of the prophet, as of a man out of sleep, is in Zec 4:1. The vision of the candlestick, and olive trees, is in Zec 4:2,3. The candlestick is described by the matter of it, gold; and by the parts of it, its bowl, lamps, and pipes; and the olive trees by their situation; the explanation of which is at the request of the prophet, he not knowing what they meant, Zec 4:4,5 when it is observed to him, that this represents, under the type of Zerubbabel building the temple, the building of the Gospel church by Christ; and which is done and finished, not by might or power of man, but by the Spirit, notwithstanding all opposition, and contempt of it, to the great joy of many, who observe the grace of God, and his providential care and goodness, in it, Zec 4:6-10 and upon the prophet's inquiring the meaning of the two olive trees, which he was ignorant of, he is told that these are the two anointed ones that stood by the Lord of the whole earth, Zec 4:11-14.
