Salmos 143:1-8

1 Oh SEÑOR, oye mi oración, escucha mis ruegos por tu verdad; respóndeme por tu justicia

2 Y no entres en juicio con tu siervo; porque no se justificará delante de ti ningún viviente

3 Porque ha perseguido el enemigo mi alma; ha quebrantado en tierra mi vida; me ha hecho habitar en tinieblas como los ya muertos

4 Y mi espíritu se angustió dentro de mí; se pasmó mi corazón

5 Me acordé de los días antiguos; meditaba en todas tus obras, meditaba en las obras de tus manos

6 Extendí mis manos a ti; mi alma a ti como la tierra sedienta. (Selah.

7 Respóndeme pronto, oh SEÑOR que desmaya mi espíritu; no escondas de mí tu rostro, y venga yo a ser semejante a los que descienden a la sepultura

8 Hazme oír por la mañana tu misericordia, porque en ti he confiado; hazme saber el camino por donde ande, porque a ti he alzado mi alma

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 143

\\<>\\. This psalm was composed by David when he fled from Absalom his son, according to the title of it in Apollinarius, the Septuagint, Vulgate Latin, Ethiopic, and Arabic versions; so R. Obadiah Gaon: and of the same opinion is Theodoret and others. The sense he had of his sins, and his deprecating God's entering into judgment with him for them, seems to confirm it; affliction from his own family for them being threatened him, 2Sa 12:9-11; though Kimchi thinks it was written on the same account as the former, and at the same time, namely, when he was persecuted by Saul; and what is said in Ps 142:2,4, seems to agree with it. The Syriac inscription is, ``when the Edomites came against him;'' which is very foreign, since these were subdued by him.
