Salmos 95:1-8

1 Venham! Cantemos ao SENHOR com alegria!Aclamemos a Rocha da nossa salvação.

2 Vamos à presença dele com ações de graças;vamos aclamá-lo com cânticos de louvor.

3 Pois o SENHOR é o grande Deus,o grande Rei acima de todos os deuses.

4 Nas suas mãos estão as profundezas da terra,os cumes dos montes lhe pertencem.

5 Dele também é o mar, pois ele o fez;as suas mãos formaram a terra seca.

6 Venham! Adoremos prostradose ajoelhemos diante do SENHOR, o nosso Criador;

7 pois ele é o nosso Deus,e nós somos o povo do seu pastoreio,o rebanho que ele conduz.Hoje, se vocês ouvirem a sua voz,

8 não endureçam o coração, como em Meribá,^[a]como aquele dia em Massá,^[b] no deserto,

Salmos 95:1-8 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 95

This psalm, though without a title, was written by David, as appears from Heb 4:7, and to him the Septuagint, Vulgate Latin, Syriac, Arabic, and Ethiopic versions ascribe it. It belongs to the times of the Messiah, as Kimchi observes; the apostle applies it to the Jews of his time, and bespeaks them in the language of it, Heb 3:7-11, and in which time Israelites, believers in Christ, are called upon to serve and worship him, in consideration of his greatness in himself, and his goodness to them. Theodoret thinks that David spoke prophetically of King Josiah and his times; and wrote it in the person of him, and the priests of God.
