Salmos 99:1-8

1 El SEÑOR reina, temblarán los pueblos; el que está sentado sobre los querubines reina, se conmoverá la tierra

2 El SEÑOR es grande en Sion, y ensalzado sobre todos los pueblos

3 Alaben tu Nombre, grande y tremendo y santo

4 Y la fortaleza del Rey, que ama el juicio; tú confirmas la rectitud; tú has hecho en Jacob juicio y justicia

5 Ensalzad al SEÑOR nuestro Dios, y adorad al estrado de sus pies santo

6 Moisés y Aarón están entre sus sacerdotes, y Samuel entre los que invocaron su Nombre; invocaban al SEÑOR, y él les respondía

7 En columna de fuego hablaba con ellos; guardaban sus testimonios, y el derecho que les dio

8 SEÑOR Dios nuestro, tú les respondías; Dios, tú eras perdonador a ellos, y vengador por sus obras

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 99

This psalm, with the foregoing from Ps 90:1 is ascribed to Moses by Jarchi and others; but cannot be his, since mention is made of Samuel in it, who lived many years after him. The Septuagint, Vulgate Latin, Syriac, Arabic, and Ethiopic versions, more rightly attribute it to David; the inscription of the Syriac version, after saying it is David's, subjoins,

``concerning the destruction of the Midianites, whom Moses and the people of Israel led captive;''

of which there is not the least mention in it; but it more truly adds,

``and a prophecy concerning the glory of the kingdom of the Messiah;''

as it undoubtedly is.
