Salmos 99:4-9

4 Rei poderoso, amigo da justiça!^[a]Estabeleceste a equidadee fizeste em Jacó o que é direito e justo.

5 Exaltem o SENHOR, o nosso Deus,prostrem-se diante do estrado dos seus pés.Ele é santo!

6 Moisés e Arão estavam entre os seus sacerdotes,Samuel, entre os que invocavam o seu nome;eles clamavam pelo SENHOR,e ele lhes respondia.

7 Falava-lhes da coluna de nuvem,e eles obedeciam aos seus mandamentose aos decretos que ele lhes dava.

8 Tu lhes respondeste, SENHOR, nosso Deus;para eles, tu eras um Deus perdoador,embora os tenhas castigadopor suas rebeliões.

9 Exaltem o SENHOR, o nosso Deus;prostrem-se, voltados para o seu santo monte,porque o SENHOR, o nosso Deus, é santo.

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 99

This psalm, with the foregoing from Ps 90:1 is ascribed to Moses by Jarchi and others; but cannot be his, since mention is made of Samuel in it, who lived many years after him. The Septuagint, Vulgate Latin, Syriac, Arabic, and Ethiopic versions, more rightly attribute it to David; the inscription of the Syriac version, after saying it is David's, subjoins,

``concerning the destruction of the Midianites, whom Moses and the people of Israel led captive;''

of which there is not the least mention in it; but it more truly adds,

``and a prophecy concerning the glory of the kingdom of the Messiah;''

as it undoubtedly is.
