Éxodo 4:1-10

1 Señales del poder del Señor
Sin embargo, Moisés protestó de nuevo:
—¿Qué hago si no me creen o no me hacen caso? ¿Qué hago si me dicen: “El Señor
nunca se te apareció”?

2 Entonces el Señor
le preguntó:
—¿Qué es lo que tienes en la mano?
—Una vara de pastor —contestó Moisés.

3 —Arrójala al suelo —le dijo el Señor
.
Así que Moisés la tiró al suelo, ¡y la vara se convirtió en una serpiente! Entonces Moisés saltó hacia atrás.

4 Pero el Señor
le dijo:
—Extiende la mano y agárrala de la cola.
Entonces Moisés extendió la mano y la agarró, y la serpiente volvió a ser una vara de pastor.

5 —Realiza esta señal —le dijo el Señor
—, y ellos creerán que el Señor
, el Dios de sus antepasados, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob, de veras se te apareció.

6 Luego el Señor
le dijo a Moisés:
—Ahora mete la mano dentro de tu manto.
Entonces Moisés metió la mano dentro de su manto, y cuando la sacó, la mano estaba blanca como la nieve, afectada por una grave enfermedad de la piel.

7 —Ahora vuelve a meter la mano dentro de tu manto —le dijo el Señor
.
Así que Moisés metió la mano de nuevo, y cuando la sacó, estaba tan sana como el resto de su cuerpo.

8 El Señor
le dijo a Moisés:
—Si no te creen ni se convencen con la primera señal milagrosa, se convencerán con la segunda.

9 Y si no te creen ni te escuchan aun después de estas dos señales, entonces recoge un poco de agua del río Nilo y derrámala sobre el suelo seco. En cuanto lo hagas, el agua del Nilo se convertirá en sangre sobre el suelo.

10 Pero Moisés rogó al Señor
:
—Oh Señor, no tengo facilidad de palabra; nunca la tuve, ni siquiera ahora que tú me has hablado. Se me traba la lengua y se me enredan las palabras.

INTRODUCTION TO EXODUS 4

This chapter is a continuation of the discourse that passed between God and Moses; and here Moses makes other objections to his mission; one is taken from the unbelief of the people of Israel, which is removed by giving him power to work miracles, by turning the rod in his hand into a serpent, and then into a rod again; and by putting his hand into his bosom at one time, when it became leprous, and again into the same place, when it became sound and whole, and by turning the water of the river into blood, Ex 4:1-9, another objection is formed from his want of eloquence, which is answered with an assurance, that God, that made man's mouth, would be with his mouth, and teach him what to say; and besides, Aaron his brother, who was an eloquent man, should be his spokesman, Ex 4:10-17 upon which he returned to Midian, and having obtained leave of his father-in-law to depart from thence, he took his wife and his sons, and returned to Egypt, Ex 4:18-20 at which time he received some fresh instructions from the Lord what he should do before Pharaoh, and what he should say unto him, Ex 4:21-23 then follows an account of what befell him by the way, because of the circumcision of his son, Ex 4:24-26 and the chapter is closed with an account of the meeting of Moses and Aaron, and of their gathering the elders of Israel together, to whom the commission of Moses was opened, and signs done before them, to which they gave credit, and expressed their joy and thankfulness, Ex 4:27-31.
