This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us1 and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice fora our sins.211
Dear friends,3 since God so loved us,4 we also ought to love one another.512
No one has ever seen God;6 but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.713
We know8 that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.914

If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God,12 God lives in him and he in God.1316
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love.14 Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.1517
In this way, love is made complete16 among us so that we will have confidence17 on the day of judgment,18 because in this world we are like him.
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear,19 because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
We love because he first loved us.2020
If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother,21 he is a liar.22 For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen,23 cannot love God, whom he has not seen.24
