26Jesusanswered them and said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you 1seek Me, not because you saw2signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.

"Do not 3work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to 4eternallife, which5the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, 6has set His seal."

Therefore they said to Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?"

Jesusanswered and said to them, "This is 7the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He 8has sent."

So they said to Him, "9Whatthen do You do for a 10sign, so that we may see, and believe You? Whatwork do You perform?

"11Our fathersate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, '12HE GAVE THEM BREAD OUT OF HEAVEN TO EAT.' "

Jesusthensaid to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the truebread out of heaven.

"For the bread of God is that which 13comesdown out of heaven, and giveslife to the world."

Then they said to Him, "Lord, always14give us thisbread."

Jesussaid to them, "15I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me 16will never*thirst.

"But 17I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe.

"18All that the Fathergives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly* not cast out.

"For 19I have comedown from heaven, 20not to do My ownwill, but 21the will of Him who 22sent Me.

"This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of 23all that He has given Me I 24losenothing, but 25raise it up on the lastday.

"For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who 26beholds the Son and 27believes in Him will haveeternallife, and I Myself will 28raise him up on the lastday."
Words to the Jews
4129Therefore the Jews were grumblingabout Him, because He said, "I am the bread that 30camedown out of heaven."

They were saying, "31Is not thisJesus, the son of Joseph, whosefather and mother32we know? How does He nowsay, '33I have comedown out of heaven '?"

Jesusanswered and said to them, "Do not grumbleamongyourselves.

"Noonecancome to Me unless* the Father who sent Me 34draws him; and I will 35raise him up on the lastday.

"It is written36in the prophets, '37AND THEY SHALL ALL BE 38TAUGHT OF GOD.' Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me.

"39Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes40haseternallife.

"42Your fathersate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.

"This is the bread which 43comesdown out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and 44not die.

"45I am the livingbread that 46camedown out of heaven; ifanyoneeats of thisbread, 47he will liveforever; and the breadalsowhich I will give48for the life of the world is 49My flesh."

50Then the Jews51began to argue with oneanother, saying, "Howcanthismangive us His flesh to eat?"

SoJesussaid to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless* you eat the flesh of 52the Son of Man and drink His blood, you havenolife in yourselves.

"He who eats My flesh and drinks My bloodhaseternallife, and I will 53raise him up on the lastday.

"For My flesh is truefood, and My blood is truedrink.

"He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood54abides in Me, and I in him.

"As the 55livingFather56sent Me, and I livebecause of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will livebecause of Me.

"This is the breadwhich57camedown out of heaven; not as 58the fathersate and died; he who eatsthisbread59will liveforever."
