Young's Literal Translation
Then King Solomon swore by the LORD, saying, "May God do so to me and more also, if Adonijah has not spoken this word against his own life.
"Nevertheless I did not believe the reports, until I came and my eyes had seen it. And behold, the half was not told me. You exceed in wisdom and prosperity the report which I heard.
'Whereas my father loaded you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke ; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.' "
and he spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, "My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke ; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions."
Ahab also made the Asherah. Thus Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel than all the kings of Israel who were before him.
Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So may the gods do to me and even more, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time."
Ben-hadad sent to him and said, "May the gods do so to me and more also, if the dust of Samaria will suffice for handfuls for all the people who follow me."
