22He didevil in the sight of the LORD, 3according to the abominations of the nationswhom the LORDdispossessedbefore the sons of Israel.
For 4he rebuilt the highplaceswhichHezekiah his father had destroyed ; and 5he erectedaltars for Baal and made an aAsherah, as Ahabking of Israel had done, and 6worshipedall the host of heaven and served them.
47He builtaltars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, "8In Jerusalem I will put My name."
For he builtaltars for 9all the host of heaven in 10the twocourts of the house of the LORD.
611He made his sonpass through the fire, 12practicedwitchcraft and useddivination, and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He didmuchevil in the sight of the LORDprovoking Him to anger.
Then 13he set the carvedimage of Asherah that he had made, in the house of which the LORDsaid to David and to his sonSolomon, "14In thishouse and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen from all the tribes of Israel, I will put My nameforever.
"And I 15will not make the feet of Israelwanderanymore from the landwhich I gave their fathers, ifonly they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that My servantMosescommanded them."
But they did not listen, and Manasseh16seduced them to doevilmorethan the nationswhom the LORDdestroyedbefore the sons of Israel.
Now the LORDspokethrough His servants the prophets, saying,
"17BecauseManassehking of Judah has donetheseabominations, 18having donewickedlymorethanall the Amoritesdidwho were before him, and 19has also made Judahsin20with his idols ;
12thereforethussays the LORD, the God of Israel, 'Behold, I am bringing such calamity on Jerusalem and Judah, that whoeverhears of it, 21both his ears will tingle.
'22I will stretchoverJerusalem the line of Samaria and the plummet of the house of Ahab, and I will wipeJerusalem as one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upsidedown.
'I will abandon the remnant of My inheritance and deliver them into the hand of their enemies, and they will become as plunder and spoil to all their enemies ;
15because they have doneevil in My sight, and have beenprovoking Me to angersince the day their fatherscame from Egypt, even to thisday.' "
1623Moreover, Manassehshedverymuchinnocentblooduntil he had filledJerusalem from oneend to another ; besides his sin24with which he made Judahsin, in doingevil in the sight of the LORD.
1725Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh and all that he did and his sinwhich he bcommitted, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah ?
