The Church at Antioch

19 1So then those who were scattered because of the apersecution that occurred in connection with Stephen made their way bto 2Phoenicia and 3Cyprus and 4Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews alone. 20 But there were some of them, men of 5Cyprus and 6Cyrene, who came to 7Antioch and began speaking to the c8Greeks also, d9preaching the Lord Jesus. 21 And 10the hand of the Lord was with them, and 11a large number who believed turned to the Lord. 22 The enews about them freached the ears of the church at Jerusalem, and they sent 12Barnabas off gto 13Antioch. 23 Then when he arrived and hwitnessed 14the grace of God, he rejoiced and began to encourage them all with iresolute heart to remain true to the Lord ; 24 for he was a good man, and 15full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And 16considerable jnumbers were kbrought to the Lord. 25 And he left for 17Tarsus to look for Saul ; 26 and when he had found him, he brought him to 18Antioch. And for an entire year they lmet with the church and taught considerable mnumbers ; and 19the disciples were first called 20Christians in 21Antioch. 27 Now nat this time 22some prophets came down from Jerusalem to 23Antioch. 28 One of them named 24Agabus stood up and began to indicate oby the Spirit that there would certainly be a great famine 25all over the pworld. qAnd this took place in the reign of 26Claudius. 29 And in the proportion that any of 27the disciples had means, each of them determined to send a contribution for the rrelief of 28the brethren living in Judea. 30 29And this they did, sending it sin charge of 30Barnabas and Saul to the 31elders.
