3 Thus says the LORD: ¹"For three transgressions of ²Damascus, and for four, ³I will not revoke the punishment,^a because they have threshed ⁴Gilead with threshing sledges of iron. 4 ⁵So I will send a fire upon the house of ⁶Hazael, and it shall devour the strongholds of ⁷Ben-hadad. 5 I will ⁸break the gate-bar of ⁹Damascus, and cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of ¹⁰Aven,^b and him who holds the scepter from ¹¹Beth-eden; and the people of ¹²Syria shall go into exile to ¹³Kir," says the LORD.
