18"Ifmenhave a quarrel and onestrikes the other with a stoneor with his fist, and he does not die but aremains in bed,
19if he gets up and walksaroundoutside on his staff, then he who struck him shall gounpunished; he shall onlypay for his bloss of time, and cshall takecare of him until he is completelyhealed.
20"If a manstrikes his maleorfemaleslave with a rod and he diesdat his hand, he shall ebe punished.
21"If, however, he fsurvives a dayor two, novengeance shall be taken; 1for he is his gproperty.
22"Ifmenstruggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that hshe givesbirthprematurely, yet there is noinjury, he shall surely be fined as the woman'shusbandimay demand of him, and he shall 2payjas the judges decide.
"But if there is any further injury, 3then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life,
244eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25burn for burn, wound for wound, kbruise for bruise.
26"If a manstrikes the eye of his maleorfemaleslave , and destroys it, he shall let him gofree on account of his eye.
"And if he lknocks out a tooth of his maleorfemaleslave , he shall let him gofree on account of his tooth.
28"If an oxgores a manor a womanmto death, 5the ox shall surely be stoned and its flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall gounpunished.
29"If, however, an ox was previously in the habit of goring and its owner has been warned, yet he does not confine it and it kills a manor a woman, the ox shall be stoned and its owneralso shall be put to death.
30"If a ransom is ndemanded of him, then he shall give for the redemption of his lifewhatever is odemanded of him.
31"Whether it gores a sonorpa daughter, it shall be done to him according to qthe samerule.
32"If the oxgores a maleorfemaleslave , rthe owner shall give his or her master6thirtyshekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.
