16Now the promises were spoken4to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, "And to seeds," as referring to many, but rather to one, "5And to your seed," that is, Christ.
What I am saying is this: the Law, which came6fourhundred and thirtyyearslater, does not invalidate a covenantpreviouslyratified by God, so as to nullify the promise.
For 7if the inheritance is dbased on law, it is nolongerebased on a promise; but 8God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise.
