Concerning 1Edom. Thussays the LORD of hosts, "Is therenolongerany2wisdom in 3Teman ? Has good counselbeenlost to the prudent ? Has their wisdomdecayed ?
8"Flee away, turnback, dwell in the depths, O inhabitants of 4Dedan, For I awill bring the 5disaster of Esau upon him At the time I bpunish him.

"6If grape gathererscame to you, Would they not leavegleanings ? Ifthieves came by night, They would destroy only cuntil they had enough.
10
"But I have 7strippedEsaubare, I have uncovered his hidingplaces So that he will not be able to conceal himself; His doffspring has been destroyed along with his erelatives And his neighbors, and 8he is nomore.
11"Leave your f9orphansbehind, I will keep them alive ; And let your 10widowstrust in Me."

For thussays the LORD, "Behold, those gwho were not sentenced to drink the 11cup will certainlydrink it, and are you the one who will be 12completelyacquitted ? You will not be acquitted, but you will certainlydrink it.

"For I have 13sworn by Myself," declares the LORD, "that 14Bozrah will become an 15object of horror, a reproach, a ruin and a curse ; and all its cities will becomeperpetualruins."

I have 16heard a message from the LORD, And an 17envoy is sent among the nations, saying, "18Gather yourselves together and comeagainst her, And rise up for battle !"

"For behold, I have made you small among the nations, Despised among men.

"As for the terror of you, The arrogance of your heart has deceived you, O you who live in the clefts of hthe 19rock, Who occupy the height of the hill. Though you make your nest as 20high as an eagle's, I will 21bring you down from there," declares the LORD.
17"Edom will become an 22object of horror ; everyone who passes by it will be horrified and will 23hiss at all its wounds.

"Like the 24overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah with its neighbors," says the LORD, "25noone will livethere, nor will a son of manreside in it.

"26Behold, one will come up like a lion from the i27thickets of the Jordanagainstja perennially watered pasture ; for in an instant I will make him run away from it, and whoever is 28chosen I shall appointover it. For who is 29like Me, and who will summon Me into court? And whothen is the shepherd30who can standagainst Me?"
20Thereforehear the 31plan of the LORDwhich He has plannedagainstEdom, and His purposeswhich He has purposedagainst the inhabitants of Teman : surely they will drag them off, even the littleones of the flock ; surely He will make their kpasture32desolatebecause of them.

The 33earth has quaked at the noise of their downfall. There is an outcry ! The noise of it has been heard at the lRedSea.
22Behold, mHe will mount up and 34swoop like an eagle and spread out His wingsnagainstBozrah ; and the 35hearts of the mightymen of Edom in that day will be like the heart of a woman in labor.
