Jerusalem has sinned1 greatly and so has become unclean.2 All who honored her despise her, for they have seen her nakedness;3 she herself groans4 and turns away.

Her filthiness clung to her skirts; she did not consider her future.5 Her fall6 was astounding; there was none to comfort7 her. "Look, O LORD, on my affliction,8 for the enemy has triumphed."
