He 1enteredJericho and was passingthrough.

And there was a mancalled by the name of Zaccheus ; he was a chieftaxcollector and he was rich.

Zaccheus was trying to seewhoJesus was, and was unablebecause of the crowd, for he was small in stature.
4So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a a2sycamoretree in order to see Him, for He was about to passthrough that way.
5WhenJesuscame to the place, He looked up and said to him, "Zaccheus, hurry and comedown, for today I muststay at your house."6
And he hurried and camedown and received Him bgladly.

When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, "He has gonecto be the guest of a man who is a sinner."
8Zaccheusstopped and said to 3the Lord, "Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I dwill give to the poor, and if I have 4defraudedanyone of anything, I ewill giveback5fourtimes as much."

And Jesussaid to him, "Todaysalvation has come to thishouse, because he, too, is 6a son of Abraham.10"For 7the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."
