And turning His gazetoward His disciples, He began to say, "6Blessed are byou who are poor, for 7yours is the kingdom of God.21"Blessed are cyou who hungernow, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weepnow, for you shall laugh.22"8Blessed are you whenmenhate you, and 9ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man.23"Be glad in that day and 10leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For 11in the sameway their fathers used to dtreat the prophets.24"But woe to 12you who are rich, for 13you are receiving your comfort in full.25"Woe to you who eare well-fednow, for you shall be hungry. Woe to you who laughnow, for you shall mourn and weep.26"Woe to you whenallmenspeakwell of you, for their fathers used to ftreat the 14falseprophets in the sameway.27"But I say to you who hear, 15love your enemies, dogood to those who hate you,28blessthose who curse you, 16pray for those who gmistreat you.29"17Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the otheralso; and whoever takesaway your hcoat, do not withhold your ishirt from him either.30"Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takesawaywhat is yours, do not demand it back.31"j18Treatothers the sameway you wantkthem to treat you.32"19If you lovethose who love you, whatcredit is that to you? For evensinnerslovethose who love them.33"If you dogood to those who dogood to you, whatcredit is that to you? For evensinnersdo the same.34"20If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, whatcredit is that to you? Evensinnerslend to sinners in order to receiveback the same amount.35"But 21love your enemies, and dogood, and lend, lexpectingnothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be 22sons of 23the MostHigh; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.36"mBe merciful, just as your Father is merciful.37"24Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; n25pardon, and you will be pardoned.38"Give, and it will be given to you. And He alsospoke a parable to them: "28A blindmancannotguide a blindman, can he? Will they not bothfall into a pit?40"29A ppupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fullytrained, will qbe like his teacher.41"Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother'seye, but do not notice the log that is in your owneye?42"Or howcan you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, firsttake the log out of your own eye, and then you will seeclearly to take out the speck that is in your brother'seye.43"30For there is nogoodtree which producesbadfruit, nor, ron the otherhand, a badtree which producesgoodfruit.44"31For eachtree is known by its ownfruit. For men do not gatherfigs from thorns, nor do they pickgrapes from a briarbush.45"32The goodman out of the goodstreasure of his heartbringsforthwhat is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure bringsforthwhat is evil; 33for his mouthspeaks from tthat whichfills his heart.
46"34Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not dowhat I say?47"35Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and uacts on them, I will show you whom he is like:48he is like a manbuilding a house, whovdugdeep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a floodoccurred, the wtorrentburstagainst that house and could not shake it, because it had been wellbuilt.49"But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the groundwithout any foundation; and the xtorrentburstagainst it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great."
