"But so that it will not spread any further among the people, let us warn them to speak no longer to any man in this name."
When they had threatened them further, they let them go (finding no basis on which to punish them) on account of the people, because they were all glorifying God for what had happened;
But Simon answered and said, "Pray to the Lord for me yourselves, so that nothing of what you have said may come upon me."
The men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one.
"But get up, go downstairs and accompany them without misgivings, for I have sent them Myself."
And he said to them, "You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a man who is a Jew to associate with a foreigner or to visit him; and yet God has shown me that I should not call any man unholy or unclean.
"The Spirit told me to go with them without misgivings. These six brethren also went with me and we entered the man's house.
So then those who were scattered because of the persecution that occurred in connection with Stephen made their way to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews alone.
"And though they found no ground for putting Him to death, they asked Pilate that He be executed.
"For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these essentials:
"So, since these are undeniable facts, you ought to keep calm and to do nothing rash.
"For indeed we are in danger of being accused of a riot in connection with today's events, since there is no real cause for it, and in this connection we will be unable to account for this disorderly gathering."
They came to the chief priests and the elders and said, "We have bound ourselves under a solemn oath to taste nothing until we have killed Paul
So the commander let the young man go, instructing him, "Tell no one that you have notified me of these things."
and I found him to be accused over questions about their Law, but under no accusation deserving death or imprisonment.
Then he gave orders to the centurion for him to be kept in custody and yet have some freedom, and not to prevent any of his friends from ministering to him.
"But I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death; and since he himself appealed to the Emperor, I decided to send him.
Until the day was about to dawn, Paul was encouraging them all to take some food, saying, "Today is the fourteenth day that you have been constantly watching and going without eating, having taken nothing.
But they were expecting that he was about to swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But after they had waited a long time and had seen nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and began to say that he was a god.
"And when they had examined me, they were willing to release me because there was no ground for putting me to death.
